Chef Joshua George, RD, founder of Bariatric Boxes, has worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry for over 18 years, starting at the age of 15 at a local pizzeria in Logan Township, NJ. During his years studying Culinary Nutrition at Johnson & Wales University, he was a stag in Montecchio Precalcino, Italy; developed recipes for Dr. Ludwig’s team researching childhood obesity at Children’s Hospital in Boston; was a live-in personal chef in Cape Cod, MA & worked at various restaurants ranging from chain restaurants to fine dining.
Following graduation, he successfully completed a Dietetic Internship accredited by the American Dietetic Association and the Commission on Dietetic Registration while taking graduate classes at Immaculata University. Once becoming a dietitian Josh gained experience in an acute care setting at a hospital in Southern New Jersey before moving to Long Term Care/ Acute Rehab facilities as the Registered Dietitian & Assistant Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
Prior to launching Bariatric Boxes, Joshua worked at one of South Jersey’s leading Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery programs. While working with thousands of pre & post operative patients, he noticed the commonalities many faced with consistency in following dietary recommendations. Although the counselings, cooking classes, and recipes were beneficial, he felt that the consistency could be aided by the convenience of prepared meals that were medically specific.
Hence, Bariatric Boxes was born. Understanding the muddied waters & fad diets that oversaturate the nutrition field, Josh firmly believes in the importance of education. By providing free meal plans, recipes, cooking demonstrations, & science based materials, Joshua believes individuals can achieve long term success in maintaining their nutritional goals.
