Phase 4: Regular Texture/ Maintenance

Typically 2 months after Bariatric surgery patients return to Regular textures. It may take 6 months to find out what foods you can & can not tolerate with your new pouch. Toleration of certain foods is different for everyone. Daily nutrition goals are life long to avoid malnutrition, these will always include fluids, protein, & vitamins/minerals. Follow the recommendations from your Bariatric team!

Choose sugar free options (less than 10 grams Sugar per serving) to avoid Dumping Syndrome!

Caffeine pulls fluids & can cause dehydration,

Alcohol can cause ulcers, &

Carbonation can stretch the stomach causing damage!

Regular Texture Foods:

  • Sugar-Free Clear Liquids (see list)

  • Sugar-Free/Low Fat Full Liquids (see list)

  • Low Fat/ Low Sugar Dairy (milk, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, kefir, etc.)

  • Lean Meats (turkey, chicken, beef, pork, venison, etc.)

  • Fish & Shellfish (cod, tilapia, salmon, shrimp, crab, clams, etc.)

  • Fruits & Vegetables

  • Whole Grains, Low Calorie Breads/ Cereals
